Following the death of country star Mindy McCready, many are wondering the fate of her two sons, 6-year-old Zander and 10-month-old Zayne.
Zayne is tragically left without parents as his father, David Wilson, took his own life in January, while Zander’s father, Billy McKnight, insists that he wants custody of his son. However, McCready’s mother and stepfather, Gayle and Michel Inge, are seeking custody of their grandsons, People reports.
McKnight expressed, “My son needs me. I'm married, working and successful. I'm on the right track and proud of it. I've been sober for years. I just want my son."
Currently Zayne and Zander are in foster care following McCready’s downward emotional spiral from Wilson’s suicide. She was placed in an in-patient treatment while the boys were taken into foster care.
McCready was unable to overcome the devastating loss of Wilson and died of an apparent gunshot wound to the head on Sunday.
People notes that a custody hearing is set for April 5.
