In the new television adaptation of the 2011 film Bad Teacher, David Alan Grier has been cast to play the lovable but clueless principal.
As we previously reported, the network decided to develop a single-camera comedy series based on the film, despite the fact that only 36% of movie goers liked the movie according to Rotten Tomatoes . The film, which starred Cameron Diaz, Justin Timberlake and Jason Segel, followed the story of a young, foul-mouthed divorcee Meredith who tried to use her teaching job to get a new husband.
And now Grier has been tapped to play Principal Gaines. According to The Hollywood Reporter, Principal Gaines is relatively sweet man but is rather oblivious to Meredith’s tricks. He is also a bit eccentric and does yoga and is into crystals.
Grier has become well known for his roles in In Living Color, Stuart Little and Jumanji.
The series Bad Teacher is still in its beginning stages but has already found producers Gene Stupnitsky and Lee Eisenberg. The pilot is written by Hilary Winston according to Deadline.
