David Alan Grier has a starring role as the principal in CBS’s Bad Teacher.
Deadline reports that Grier has joined the cast of the single camera comedy series based off of the 2011 Cameron Diaz movie.
Bad Teacher follows the foul-mouthed divorcee, Meredith (Diaz), who teaches so she can find her next husband, reported The Hollywood Reporter. Hilary Winston of Community will pen and produce the project.
Grier will play the role of school Principal, Carl Gaines, portrayed by John Michael Higgins in the movie version. His character comes off as clueless, but sweet and well minded. Gaines is recently divorced and is forced to live by himself. He is into yoga, crystals and the support group he created for people going through tough times. He is always getting duped by Meredith’s charm and never sees her true intentions.
Grier is best known for In Living Color. He has also been in Crank Yankers and features such as Jumanji, Stewart Little and the upcoming Tyler Perry Presents Peeples. Grier is represented by Innovative and Roar.
