Dennis Rodman defends North Korean dictator Kim Jong-Un

By Sarah McClanahan,

Just beginning his trip to North Korea as a goodwill ambassador, NBA Hall of Famer Dennis Rodman defended the native people and their leader but also mixed up YouTube phenomenon Psy’s origin.

As previously reported, Dennis Rodman ventured to North Korea this week to play basketball and record a documentary set to air on HBO in April. Moreover, he will be making various appearances, including meeting with dictator Kim Jong-Un, who is supposedly a “NBA fanatic” and a huge fan of the Chicago Bulls.

Many fans expressed their displeasure towards Rodman meeting someone who is considered an enemy of the United States and its strong roots in democracy, but Rodman stood by his decision. He made his opinion known via Twitter, writing:

However, despite his defense of the country he is currently visiting, he showcased his lack of geographical and pop culture knowledge in his previous tweet where he wrote:

In fact, the creator of the catchy “Gangnam Style” song, Psy, hails from South - not North - Korea.

What do you think of Rodman's mix-up? Is it offensive or forgiveable?
