Despite donning a diamond on her ring finger, Scarlett Johansson denies engagement

Scarlett Johansson sparked rumors of engagement to boyfriend Romain Dauriac this week when she was seen in New York City with a diamond ring on her finger.

However, People reports her rep has stated, “Scarlett is absolutely not engaged.”

While Johansson and Dauriac, a French journalist, are going strong, the Avengers actress told Elle UK in an interview last month that at the moment, getting hitched is not high on her priority list.

The actress said, “I never think about marriage. The only time I ever think about it is when people ask me, 'Would I get married again?' I'm in a nice relationship, I'm working a lot and, like I said, it's not important to me."

She added, “To me, being in a functioning relationship doesn't mean you have to be married.”

According to Us Weekly, Johansson and Dauriac became public with their relationship this past December.

Johansson was previously married to actor Ryan Reynolds, but announced their separation after two years of marriage in December of 2010. Reynolds is currently married to actress Blake Lively.

Johansson is currently starring as Maggie in the Broadway play Cat on a Hot Tin Roof.
