Donald Trump sues Bill Maher for not making good on $5 million bet (Video)

Donald Trump is suing Bill Maher for $5 million following a fake bet Maher made on The Tonight Show in January.

Politico reports that Trump filed the lawsuit Monday in California after he made good on the obviously fake bet on Maher’s behalf.

As we previously reported, Maher jokingly offered $5 million dollars to the charity of The Celebrity Apprentice creator if he could provide a birth certificate which would prove that he was not born as a “spawn of his mother having sex with orangutan.” Trump sent an open letter to Maher with a copy of his birth certificate and demanded he make good on the bet.

Maher’s claims came from him poking fun at Trump who famously came forward during the presidential debates saying he would donate $5 million to President Obama’s charity of choice if he releases his college records to the public.

Trump released a statement saying, “Bill Maher made an unconditional offer while offer while on The Jay Leno Show and I, without hesitation, accepted his offer and provided him with the appropriate documentation. Prior demands for payment went ignored by Mr. Maher despite the fact that the beneficiaries of this suit will ultimately be the charities […] who would share equally the $5 million — something I am certain they can desperately use.”

Trump maintains that Maher wasn’t joking, that he delivered the bet with “venom.” He announced his decision to sue Maher on Fox Monday morning. He followed with a series of tweets. “@billmaher didn’t come through with his promised $5 million for charity so today I will sue him,” he wrote adding, “I don’t know whether I will win or lose the @billmaher lawsuit but had an obligation to sue for charity.”

Did you think Maher was joking? Is Trump's lawsuit worthy?
