A hitchhiker claims that he saved a woman’s life after a man, claiming to be Jesus, attacked her. The crazy story has gone viral thanks to the hitchhiker’s interview with a local Fresno, California station.
The homeless hitchhiker, who only identified himself as Kai, spoke with KMPH and described how the man who picked him up, Jett Simmons McBride, hit an African American Pacific Gas and Electric worker, then attacked a woman.
Kai said that during the drive, McBride suddenly believed he was Jesus Christ and hit the PG&E worker. Bystanders say that McBride was yelling that he was Jesus and was saving the world from “black people,” reports The Huffington Post. After pinning the worker, McBride allegedly went after Tanya Baker, putting her in a strong hug.
Kai swooped into action, using the hatchet he was carrying with him.
“A guy that big can snap a woman's neck like a pencil stick,” he said. “So I f--king ran up behind him with a hatchet. Smash, smash, SUH-MASH!”
He added, “If [McBride] had started driving that car around again, man, there would have been a hell of a lot of bodies around here.”
According to ABC 30, McBride was taken to Community Regional Medical Center and booked for attempted murder charges. He is being held on $1 million bail.
The PG&E worker had to be treated for two broken legs.
