Elton John will be releasing The Diving Board, his latest album, sometime in September, according to some of his close friends.
According to a Billboard report, John announced Friday to friends and a few journalists details about his latest work, and a 13-track list has been released.
The six-time Grammy winning pianist and composer is quoted as saying that this album will be the most “piano-oriented” album of his career. According to the report, he wrote and recorded the album within a matter of days this January.
T Bone Burnett produced the album. John collaborated with his longtime songwriting partner Bernie Taupin, and also recorded along with Jack Ashford, a former band mate of Marvin Gaye.
John says that the album will mix gospel, jazz, and blues-- “everything I love about American music.”
According to EntertainmentWise, this will be John’s 30th LP release, and his first since 2006.
In the same month of the release, John is scheduled to headline the Bestival on the Isle of Wight in England.
