Emma Watson thinks media treated Kristen Stewart poorly during scandal

While they may have been pitted against each other at the box office, in real life Emma Watson has nothing but nice things to say about Kristen Stewart. In fact, Watson is being more than nice--she's defending Stewart over her highly publicized cheating on Robert Pattinson.

E! News reported the Perks of Being a Wallflower actress speaking to Italian Vanity Fair about Stewart's scandal.

She told the magazine, "Those who criticized her are the same people that think that being rich and famous is like being covered in some kind of magic powder that makes life perfect: Nothing can go wrong in your wonderful world. or these people, Kristen deserves all the bad things that have been thrown at her because she had an amazing life and she ruined it."

Watson continued to speak in detail about her thoughts on Stewart.

She further explained, "I thought that the media picked on her in a very horrible way. Kristen is human, just like everybody else, and she's so young...everyone makes mistakes, everyone. It's not fair to consider them matters of public interest. On one hand, I can understand why it happened: people felt really involved in her relationship with Robert Pattinson. But it's also true that they both have done everything in their power to keep their relationship as far from the public eye as possible."

Emma Watson rose to fame in 2001 when she starred as Hermione Granger, a young witch, in the blockbuster Harry Potter film series. She grew up in front of the world's view, and ended her stint as Ms. Granger in July 2011 when the Harry series wrapped. She dabbles in fashion, appearing most recently in an ad for Lancome.

She gained critical acclaim last year in The Perks of Being a Wallflower .
