Ryan Gosling is going to teach his girlfriend Eva Mendes How To Catch A Monster. The actor has reportedly cast Mendes to star in his directorial debut, along with Doctor Who’s Matt Smith.
Earlier this week, Bloody Disgusting reported that Mendes and Rob Zabrecky will star in the film. Mendes will play a member of the Big Bad Wolf Club while Zabrecky will star as a cab driver.
Variety confirmed that Mendes is in the film when it reported that Smith is joining as well. The film will be the current Doctor Who’s first U.S. production.
The project was announced last summer, with Gosling’s Drive co-star Hendricks attached. Hendricks will play a single mother who gets involved in a dark underworld, while one of her sons finds a road to an underwater city. Ben Mendelsohn will also have a role and it is not confirmed if Gosling will give himself a part.
Marc Platt Productions’ Marc Platt and Adam Seigel are co-producing with Gosling’s Phantasma Films. Bold Films’ Michel Litvak and David Lancaster are also co-producing.
Gosling will next be seen in front of the camera in The Place Beyond The Pines, which co-stars Mendes and Bradley Cooper. That film opens on March 20. Gosling is also working on an untitled Terrence Malick film.
