Father pays daughter $200 to stay off of Facebook

Paul Baier, a Wellesley, Massachusetts father, is paying his daughter to rid herself from Facebook.

CNet has reported that Baier, the vice president of a Massachusetts energy company, made his 14-year-old daughter Rachel sign a Facebook Deactivation Agreement.

Rachel’s next five months will be Facebook free, and she has to show that she is willing to give it up before she sees a dime from her dad. Her first payment of $50 will come on April 26, and the remainder isn’t scheduled until June 26.

The whole idea was started by Rachel who has just flat out become bored of Facebook.

“It was her idea. She wants to earn money and also finds Facebook a distraction and a waste of time sometimes. She plans to go back on after the 6 months is over,” said Paul Baier.

Baier agreed to pay his daughter $200 for the temporary breakup.

“I’ll have access to Facebook to change her password, so she’s not tempted. And, I plan to use, or she plans to use the money for, ‘to buy stuff.’ And we both signed it,” Baier said, as stated on WCVB.com.
