Happy Birthday to Laura Linney, who turns 49 today.
Born on February 5, 1964 in Manhattan, the Oscar-nominated actress can be seen in various movies, TV series and on stage.
After studying acting with Jim Barnhill and John Emigh in Brown University, Linney went on to Juilliard School to keep studying acting.
Linney appeared as minor roles in several movies in her early career. Until 1998, she played Jim Carray’s wife in The Truman Show, which received box office and critical success.
Linney received her first Oscar nomination in 2000, for her performance in the film You Can Count on Me. In 2003, she appeared in several films including Mystic River, and Love Actually. Her role in Kinsey in 2004 got her second Oscar nomination. Linney kept appearing in various movies in the next couple years including The Squid and the Whale, Driving Lessons and The Nanny Diaries. She received her third Oscar nomination for The Savages.
Linney is also active in TV series and in theatre. Her current appearance in the TV series The Big C, debuted in 2010, won her a Golden Globe award. Her most recent performance on stage is Time Stands Still by Donald Margulies.
Linney’s most recent appearance is in the WikiLeaks movie The Fifth Estate, which hits theaters on November 15, 2013.
