Big Bird survived the presidential election and is in the White House. The Sesame Street character stars in two new ads promoting children’s fitness with First Lady Michelle Obama.
According to NBC News, the videos mark the third anniversary of the First Lady’s “Let’s Move” campaign, which she started to help promote healthy eating and exercising for children. Early in her husband’s first term, Obama devoted herself to the cause and it looks like she will continue doing so into President Obama’s second term.
In the first ad, Obama and Big Bird are in the White House kitchen and Big Bird is stunned by the choices. "Gee. I bet you could get just anything you want in this kitchen,” he says, looking at all the fruits and vegetables before them.
“Eating healthy is easy, and it’s fun and delicious, too,” Obama says.
In the second video, Big Bird gets to dance in the East Room, notes ABC News.
“Look, Mrs. Obama, I’m getting moving right now by jogging… Now I’m jumping to get moving… And now, I’m dancing,” Big Bird says.
Last fall, Big Bird became a pop culture phenomenon outside of PBS when presidential candidate Mitt Romney mentioned Big Bird when he discussed cutting subsidies to PBS.
