Former Navy SEAL Chris Kyle and author of the book American Sniper was killed along with one other person at a Texas gun Range on Saturday.
Kyle, 38, was at the Glen Rose, Texas, gun range with Chad Littlefield, 35, when they were shot and killed. According to CNN, the Texas Department of Public Safety said police have arrested 25-year-old suspect Eddie Ray Routh and have charged him with two counts of capital murder.
Kyle’s best-selling book, entitled American Sniper: The Autobiography of the Most Lethal Sniper in U.S. Military History, records his account of his more than 150 sniper killings in Iraq. In addition, he had recently spoken out about bans against weapons, saying President Obama was “against the Second Amendment.”
USA Today reports that Routh shot both men at around 3:30 p.m. and then escaped in one of his victim’s trucks. He was then found later that night at around 8 p.m. in his home in Lancaster.
Police say the motive for the shooting remains unclear.
