Frank Ocean has decided not to press charges against Chris Brown following their altercation last weekend in a recording studio parking lot.
After the Jan. 27 scuffle, Ocean told his Twitter followers “Got jumped by Chris and a couple guys. Lol.”
The fight was reportedly a result of the two singers fighting over a parking spot in the West Hollywood recording studio’s parking lot. No arrests were made, and Brown, who’s still on probation for his 2009 assault against on-again girlfriend Rihanna, fled the scene before cops arrived, The New York Daily News reports.
Ocean also said at the time, “Cut my finger now I can’t play with two hands at the Grammys.”
But he has now taken to his Tumblr account to say he has decided not to pursue any legal action against the “Wake Me Up” singer.
“As a child I thought if someone jumped me it would result in me murdering or mutilating a man,” he wrote. “But as a man I am not a killer, I’m an artist and a modern person. I’ll choose sanity. No criminal charges. No civil lawsuit. Forgiveness, albeit difficult, is wisdom. Peace, albeit trite, is what I want in my short life. Peace.”
Brown and Ocean are set to compete for the Best Urban Contemporary Album award at the Grammys on Feb. 10.
