FX comedy series, Archer, has been renewed for a fifth season.
Archer, which is several weeks into its fourth season, has received an order for 13 new episodes for the animated comedy’s fifth season, reports Deadline. The current season comes to a close April 11.
The show is doing extremely well in terms of viewer ratings. For this year, it is the No. 2 series in viewers ranging from 18-34; it trails The Walking Dead. Archer is television’s No. 1 show in that demo Thursday nights at 10 p.m.
"Archer is one the very best comedy series on television," said FX exec vice president for original programming and development Nick Grad. “It is truly rewarding the way in which the audience and fans have embraced their work and that the ratings continue to grow. The quality of Archer is undeniable."
According to The Hollywood Reporter Archer will be entered into the outstanding comedic series race at the Emmys. The chances of 'Animated series' entering this race is rare and very few go for it.
The animated comedy series was created by Adam Reed and Floyd County Prods and executive produced by Reed and Matthew Thompson. It is one of FX’s main comedy series along with Anger Management, It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia and Wilfred.
Archer airs Thursdays at 10 p.m. on FX.
