With a month to go before the season three premiere, HBO has finally released the first footage for Game of Thrones’ new season. The minute-long video features many of the familiar characters and gives a few brief glimpses of the action.
Fans can spot Peter Dinklage, Lena Headey, Emilia Clarke, Iain Glen, Maisie Williams and the rest of the cast in the video. Plus, it teases several huge battle scenes and shows that we’ll bet even more dragon action this season.
Prior to the trailer’s release, Entertainment Weekly got a look at the new poster for the season. It also didn’t reveal much beyond showing the shadow of a flying dragon.
Season three promises to be much bigger than the acclaimed first two seasons. Over the summer, the network announced that there will be over 14 new cast members. Showrunners David Benioff and Dan Weiss revealed in December that every episode will run 56-57 minutes, 2-3 minutes longer than the average length of last season’s episodes.
Game of Thrones, based on the novels by George R.R. Martin, starts on March 31.
