Word is breaking out that Harrison Ford could reprise his role as Han Solo in the upcoming Star Wars: Episode VII.
Latino Review exposed the information that Ford has signed on to make an appearance in the new Star Wars film. There is no word on how the famous Han Solo character will fit in the new movie, but the deal is supposed to be “pretty big.”
It isn't clear in what regards “pretty big” means. Either a big pay day for Ford or playing a big role in the film could be possibilities.
Apparently Ford felt that Han Solo should have died in Star Wars: Episode VI, reports The Huffington Post, but George Lucas felt that that would not be financially smart.
"I thought he should have died in the last one, just to give it some bottom; some gravitas," said Ford in an interview in 2010. "George didn't think there was any future in dead Han toys."
The news of Ford returning to the franchise is not a shocker. In November, after Disney confirmed a new Star Wars, he expressed his interest in making a return.
This could strengthen the case for a rumored Han Solo prequel. The Han Solo spinoff would follow the character in his younger days, with a much younger actor of course. That idea has not been confirmed.
