Cindy Crawford turns 47 today!
Born in DeKalb, Illinois, Cindy Ann Crawford had grown to be one of the most influential people in the modeling world.
She has a trademark mole just above her lip, one of the factors that skyrocketed her fame.
Crawford was discovered at the age of 16 by a newspaper photographer. She was then represented by Chicago-based Elite modeling agency.
During the 1980s and 1990s, she was among the most popular supermodels, and became various magazines' cover girl, walking on runways, and appearing fashion campaigns.
She appeared as a cover girl in women fashion's magazines People, Vogue, W, Harper's Bazaar, Elle, Allure, and Cosmopolitan. She also appeared in various fashion campaigns for Gianni Versace, Ink, Revlon, and Escada.
Crawford also worked for Clairol, Omega, Maybelline, and Ripley.
She had been ranked as one of the sexiest people in the world. She was the number 5 sexiest person by Playboy, and named one of the most beautiful people by People magazine.
The American model appeared in several movies, such as Unzipped, Fair Game, and 54. She also appeared in TV series, MTV House of Styles, Sunrise, even Wizards of Waverly Place.
She quit modeling in 2008, but still did celebrity endorsements for various brands.
Other than modeling, acting, and celebrity endorsement, Crawford was also active in charity work for medical research. Her brother died of leukemia while she was young - the first reason why she contributed a lot on the research.
She became an official supporter for Ronald McDonald's House Charities, and the Honorary Committee for California Wildlife Center.
