Drew Barrymore turns 38 today.
Born on February 22, 1975, American actress Drew Barrymore started her on-screen appearance before she was 1-year-old. She became one of the most famous child stars after her appearance in Steven Spielberg’s E. T. the Extra-Terrestrial.
The early fame brought Barrymore nothing but a turbulent life, involving drugs, alcohol and two times in rehab. After her 20th birthday, Barrymore got back on track gradually. She started with minor roles in the films Batman Forever and Scream. She also appeared in several romance comedies including Wishful Thinking, The Wedding Singer and Ever After.
Barrymore founded her own production company Flower Films in 1995. The second film produced by her company Charlie’s Angels was a major box office success in 2000. This helped Barrymore back into the public eye. After this, Barrymore appeared in a number of box-office hits, including 50 First Dates, Music and Lyrics and He’s Just Not That into You.
Barrymore also started directing. Her directorial debut film Whip It with Ellen Page received positive reviews from the critics.
