Honey Boo Boo Alana Thompson uses Facebook to sell Girl Scout Cookies, organization not happy

By Daniel S Levine,

Alana Thompson - better known to the world as Honey Boo Boo Child - has used Facebook to sell Girl Scout Cookies. While that sounds like a genius plan for one of the most popular reality stars on TV, the Girl Scout organization isn’t happy.

Thompson’s family used her official Facebook page to sell Girl Scout Cookies earlier in the week. On Tuesday, they posted an image of all the cookies packaged and ready to go. You can still send them an email at alanathompson31054@gmail.com to buy boxes for $3.50 each plus shipping. They also threw in a family photo signed by the show’s stars.

While this may have been a well-intentioned plan and also gained the Girl Scouts some attention, a rep for the organization told TMZ that they are trying to shut it down, noting that Thompson’s celebrity gives her an unfair advantage. GSUSA even noted that Thompson was doing it for a friend.

A GSUSA rep explained that scouts are not supposed to sell their cookies online to teach members the importance of people skills and setting goals. Thompson’s sales will still count, though.

Thompson’s people did take down the ad, but the caption for the photo of packages still says that fans can order more.

She's got one lucky friend, though.
