‘How I Met Your Mother’ hits season high ratings, ‘The Following’ drops

It looks like stretching out How I Met Your Mother for another season was a good idea for CBS. Last night’s new episode scored a season high rating, leading the network to another Monday win. Over at Fox, The Following slid a bit in its third week.

CBS averaged 10.135 million viewers and a 3.1 18-49 rating on the night. HIMYM kicked off with 10.31 million viewers and a 4.0 18-49 rating, both up from last week, notes TVLine. That was also a season high rating for the show. Rules of Engagement premiered to 9.33 million viewers and a 3.1 18-49 rating. 2 Broke Girls was next with 11.2 million and a 3.6 key demo rating, while Mike & Molly had 10.7 million viewers and a 3.1 18-49 rating. Hawaii Five-0 ended the night with 9.63 million viewers and a 2.3 key demo rating.

According to HitFix, Fox came in second with 8.97 million viewers and a 2.6 18-49 rating. Bones slipped to just over 9 million viewers and a 2.3 18-49 rating. The Following dropped 12 percent from last week, hitting 8.9 million viewers and a 2.9 18-49 rating.

ABC had 8.12 million viewers and a 2.2 18-49 rating. The Bachelor kicked off with 7.83 million viewers and had a very slight dip to 7.78 million in the second hour. Overall, its 2.4 18-49 rating was down from last week, notes THR. Castle had 8.77 million viewers and a 1.8 18-49 rating.

NBC came in fourth with just 4.88 million viewers and a 1.8 18-48 rating. Biggest Loser had 5.71 million viewers for its first hour, but climbed a bit to 5.81 million for the second. It drew a 2.0 key demo rating. Deception drew 3.12 million and a 1.2 18-49 rating.

The CW’s Carrie Diaries climbed to 1.54 million viewers and a 0.7 18-49 rating. 90210 was also up, but it had just 791,000 viewers and a 0.4 rating.
