Katie Couric got a chilling feeling when phone calls from a number registered to her late husband were placed to 911.
Over the past month, Couric has been on the receiving end of a cruel prank that sees a number attached to Jay Monahan calling 911 at 2am every Tuesday, to send cops to Couric’s home.
According to NY Daily News, Couric told her audience at her show Katie during commercial breaks on Tuesday.
She explained that she was so freaked out by it all that she called Police Commissioner Raymond Kelly.
“So I called Ray Kelly, who I know just through the years seeing at different things. ‘Ray, this is so weird but can you help me? I don’t know what to do,’” she said.
The audience member explained that Couric referred to the calls as a “SWAT call.”
A police source confirmed “The matter is under investigation. We’re trying to determine if it’s a malfunction or not.”
The Huffington Post reports that Couric’s late husband passed away from colon cancer in 1998. She has since founded National Colorectal Cancer Research Alliance, Stand Up To Cancer and the Jay Monahan Center for Gastrointestional Health at New York-Presbyterian Hospital.
Couric has never re-married.
