Jennifer Lawrence and Bradley Cooper earned Oscar nominations for David O. Russell’s Silver Linings Playbook, so why not work with the director again? Cooper is already slated to star in Russell’s next film and now Lawrence is on board, too.
Deadline reports that Lawrence will star in the film, which was at one point known as American Bullshit. Christian Bale, who won an Oscar for starring in Russell’s The Fighter is also set to star.
Russell wrote the drama with Eric Singer and it centers on Abscam, a 1970s FBI operation that lead to the downfall of several Congressmen. Lawrence will play Bale’s wife.
Bale, Lawrence and Cooper are just a few of the big names involved in the film. Indiewire reports that Amy Adams (another Fighter star), Jeremy Renner and comedian Louis C.K. have also been cast. Annapurna Pictures is fully financing the project, which is set to start production in March.
Cooper and Lawrence are also starring in Serena by Susanne Bier, so the two clearly enjoy working together.
Lawrence is seen as a frontrunner for the Best Actress Oscar for her role in Silver Linings Playbook. Cooper, Robert De Niro, Jacki Weaver and Russell are also up for Oscars. It was also nominated for Best Picture.
