After the Academy Awards, Jennifer Lawrence discussed stopping the stigma associated with mental illness and the reason behind her fall during the ceremony, among other topics.
As we previously reported, Lawrence tripped while walking up the steps to accept the Oscar for Best Actress for her role as Tiffany in Silver Linings Playbook.
After the ceremony, she fielded a variety of questions from reporters, and even admitted she had taken a shot before taking the stage.
She began by expressing her interest in reducing the stigma surrounding mental illness.
“It’s so bizarre how in this world if you have asthma, you take asthma medicine. If you have diabetes, you take diabetes medicine. But as soon as you have to take medication for your mind, it’s such a stigma behind it,” Lawrence commented.
It was inevitable her fall would be another popular topic of discussion.
“Was it on purpose? Absolutely,” Jennifer joked before mentioning that the combination of the length of her Dior gown and the freshly waxed stairs were a recipe for disaster.
One reporter commented that it was unique to have her level of success at such a young age, and asked whether she is worried she may have peaked too soon.
“Well now I am,” she scoffed, throwing her hands up in the air.
