Best Actress nominees Jessica Chastain and Jennifer Lawrence have been plagued by false rumors of being in a serious feud. However, the Zero Dark Thirty star, Chastain, shot down those rumors for a second time when asked about the issue on the red carpet.
Chastain previously addressed the so-called feud in a Facebook post in which she remarked it is “very sad that media makes up bogus stories about women fighting in this industry.”
Tonight, Chastain continued to stand up for her dignity and that of her female cohorts.
“I don't [like girl fights],” she said, MTV News reported. “I think the image of women like cats, this catty thing, I don't find that to be true. So I'm not interested in keeping up the myth. Unless it's for a movie. A girl fight in a movie is fun."
She continued to gush about the quality of her competitors and their spectacular performances this year.
"It’s incredible when so many people say what an amazing year for women it's been,” Chastain continued. “But also you think about Marion Cotillard, a performance in 'Rust and Bone' I loved, and she didn't get nominated. So you never know what the Oscars formula is. I just know when I see a performance like hers in 'Rust and Bone' or Jennifer Lawrence in 'Silver Linings Playbook,' Emmanuelle Riva or Quvenzhane and Naomi Watts, that's what is inspiring to me. It makes me want to be better."
