Jessica Chastain, who has skyrocketed to fame with two current box office hits in the cinema, Zero Dark Thirty and Mama, and with an Oscar nomination for best actress, has signed on for the title role in Miss Julie together with Colin Farrell and Samantha Morton.
Yahoo! reported that Miss Julie is originally a drama written by famous Swedish playwright August Strinberg.
Liv Ullmann, who used to be an actress, is working with famous Swedish director Ingmar Bergman, to direct the film. Ullmann debuted as a director with Sofie in 1992. Miss Julie will be Ullman’s fifth full-length movie.
According to Cinema Blend, Miss Julie details the story of a count’s daughter who decides to attend a party held by her servants one night. She subsequently falls in love with a senior servant named Juan.
The production date for the film has yet to be released.
According to Yahoo!, the play has been adapted several times and the role of Miss Julie was previously played by Janet McTeer, Sienna Miller and Saffron Burrows among others.
