The reported behind the scenes tension at NBC’s Today Show don’t end after 10 a.m. A report suggests that it extends to the fourth hour, which is hosted by Kathie Lee Gifford and Hoda Kotb. Gifford reportedly wants to move their hour to Hollywood, but Kotb disagrees.
According to TMZ, Gifford has been lobbying for a long time to move their hour to LA, but Kotb loves New York too much to want to move. Kotb was confident that Gifford’s Broadway show would end her wish to move to LA, but when that show closed in December, Gifford still showed a desire to move West.
There is also “some tension” between the two since Gifford didn’t promote Kotb’s book on air.
“Both women are really strong, so tension is almost inevitable,” one source told the site.
Sources linked to CAA, which now represents Kotb, also told TMZ that if they can get her some work out in LA, Kotb might change her mind and be interested in moving out there.
Meanwhile, the two hosts are in LA now, taping in the city for two weeks, notes Extra. The two spoke with Mario Lopez and were all smiles during the interview.
Today has been in flux since last year, when Ann Curry left the show in a cloud of controversy. There were reports that Matt Lauer never got along with Curry, who now has a limited role with NBC News.
