Lady Gaga postpones tour dates due to joint inflammation

By Sarah McClanahan,

Chronic pain caused Lady Gaga to postpone upcoming Born This Way Ball shows in Chicago, Detroit, and Hamilton.

Lady Gaga reluctantly took to Twitter on Tuesday, February 12 to make an “unfortunate announcement.”

Doctors orders have forced her to delay four performances on her Born This Way Ball tour: February 13 and 14 in Chicago, February 16 in Detroit, and February 17 in Hamilton [Ontario], reports MTV, due to synovitis, severe joint inflammation.

A crippling injury that she had been hiding from her staff has worsened over the past month, and left her unable to walk after last night’s show in Montreal.

She finds it “nearly impossible” to forgive herself for letting down her fans, and she hopes to heal quickly. If she continues on her concert schedule as planned, she is only giving herself a week to recover before her performances in Philadelphia and New York City.

Gaga also posted the unfortunate news on her official Facebook.

According to Pollstar Lady Gaga’s Born This Way Ball, which has visited every continent except Antarctica, is the fifth highest grossing tour of 2012, earning over $160 million.
