Three people are dead and at least three more wounded after a car crash and shooting at a busy Las Vegas Strip intersection early this morning.
According to KSNV MyNews3, police say the incident unfolded around 4:30 a.m. at Flamingo Road and Las Vegas Boulevard. Sgt. John Sheahan told the media that there were five cars involved in the crash, including a taxi, Maserati and SUV.
The taxi bust into flames, leaving the driver and passenger dead. Police told The Associated Press that before the crash, the drivers of the Maserati and SUV were firing at each other. The driver of the Maserati was also killed.
Sheahan said that by the time police arrived, the SUV had fled the scene.
Another person in the Maserati was among three hospitalized after the accident. Sheahan noted that others may have been hurt as well.
KSNV notes that police still have the area blocked off and are investigating.
The AP notes that this is the third deadly incident on the Strip this month. A shooting at a parking garage on Feb. 6 left two wounded and over the weekend, a tourist was stabbed at The Hotel at Mandalay Bay.
