LeAnn Rimes suing dentist for 'emotional' damages and ruining her career

By Sarah Burbank-Douglas,

LeAnn Rimes is suing Dr. Duane C. McKay, her dentist, for allegedly messing up dental work that has since caused a rift in her career.

Dr. McKay provided the singer/actress with a variety of dental work over the last three years including veneers, crowns and TMJ related issues, TMZ reports.

Rimes notes that the work Dr. McKay provided has since caused her a significant amount of pain including nine root canals, swelling, bleeding and bone grafting. She claims the pain and the botched dental work has caused her to lose work and is seeking unspecified damages for past and future earnings lost, pain and suffering in addition to emotional damages.

According to Us Weekly, Rimes previously took to Twitter in July to write, “Waiting on the endodontist to meet me and do a nighttime root canal…This is one of the craziest things I've ever been through. Trying to keep my mind off the pain & what's about to happen by saying hi to you guys. Life does not work on the right schedule sometimes. This is such bad timing! K, wish me luck. Much love!”

She followed with various detailed tweets about the shots she received in “half dead” nerves and other bridgework she had to have done .

E! News has obtained a copyof Rimes’ suit, which was filed Thursday.

Rimes’ last acting role was in 2011’s TV movie Reel Love.
