Lindsay Lohan loses lawsuit against Pitbull

By Sarah Burbank-Douglas,

Pitbull has come out victorious from a lawsuit brought on by troubled actress Lindsay Lohan.

Lohan filed a lawsuit against the rapper in 2011 for lyrics in his song “Give Me Everything,” featuring Ne-Yo. The lyrics in question read, "I've got it locked up like Lindsay Lohan.”

A judge ruled in favor of Pitbull, stating the lyrics are protected by the First Amendment, E! News reports.

Following his victory, Pitbull’s attorney, Marcos Jimenez, explained, "This will further solidify the rights of artists to express themselves in song.” He also stated that Pitbull was “shocked” to learn that Lohan had filed a suit against him.

Jimenez adds that Pitbull is “pleased” and notes, “He felt it was very important to address this head on to protect his right and the rights of other artist. He decided to fight this."

E! News notes that, at the time of the lawsuit, the Mean Girls actress felt she should be paid for the use of her name in the song. Instead, a judge fined the financially troubled starlet $1,500 for sanctionable plagiarism and false representation.
