“Material Girl” Madonna topped the list of biggest moneymakers in music for 2013.
According to E! News, the list was compiled after researching and combining album sales, money made during tours, publishing and singles, among other factors. Madonna’s MDNA tour is noted as the greatest success, outdoing even her own album of the same name.
The Billboard Top 40 features the likes of Justin Bieber, Coldplay, Jason Alden, Tim McGraw, Dave Matthews Band, Kenny Chesney, Van Halen, Roger Waters and Bruce Springsteen rounding out the top 10.
Madonna held the number one spot with $34,577,308 in sales, which barely beat out the likes of Springsteen who brought in $33.4 million in sales.
E! News noted that the list doesn’t consist of just oldies-but-goodies — Grammy Award-winning band Mumford & Sons made the Top 40, coming in at number 39 with $6.2 million. The Voice mentor Blake Shelton took final spot at number 40.
Andre Bocelli, Journey, Jay-Z, Black Keys and Maroon 5 also made the list.
