Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen are hoping to bring their fashion sense to a wider audience, introducing what they consider a more affordable line of bags for their Elizabeth and James label.
Women’s Wear Daily broke the news, reporting that the affordable collection will branch out to include backpacks, messenger bags, clutches, wallets and more.
According to E! News, the small leather goods will retail between $125 and $395. The larger items will cost as much as $625.
“We wanted the price point to be strong,” Mary-Kate told WWD, reports Us Weekly. “The price point is below [Alexander] Wang and [Phillip] Lim but above Marc [Jacobs] and Tory [Burch].”
“And Rebecca Minkoff...We wanted these bags to be affordable,” Ashley chipped in.
The leather goods will still use a variety of high-quality materials, from New Zealand lambskin to Italian suede.
The Olsen twins, who were once known as child stars on TV, have grown up to become figures in the fashion world, since their business empire is worth an estimated $1.5 billion. Last year, they were named the Womenswear Designer of the Year by the Council of Fashion Designers of America.
In December, they unveiled a line of crocodile leather backpacks for their The Row collection. The bags retailed between $39,000 and $55,000 each.
