Megan Fox will star in Michael Bay's 'Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles'

By Sarah Burbank-Douglas,

Megan Fox will rejoin Transformers director Michael Bay in a Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles spin-off which has the new mother tapped to play April O’Neil.

Variety reports that the high-profile director announced the news on his website, simply stating, “TMNT: we are bringing Megan Fox back into the family!”

Prior to the announcement, the film was actually put on hold with many uncertain if the reboot would ever see the big screen. According to Cinema Blend, the film was pushed back to a 2014 release date despite the fact that the film was slated to begin production in Oct. 2012.

Thus far, no actors have been attached to the roles of Leonardo, Michelangelo, Donatello and Raphael. Rumors have surfaced that Bay will add an Alien-effect to the film, which has reportedly angered lovers of the 1980s comic series.

Fox’s addition to the cast may come as a surprise as she and Bay always shared a tumultuous relationship. Due to differences of opinions, their inability to agree and Fox comparing Bay to Hitler, Fox was not asked back for the third Transformers movie.

Jonathan Liebesman is slated to direct with Josh Appelbaum penning the screenplay.
