McCarthey's film 'Identity Thief' gains the top spot at the box office

Melissa McCarthy had a great weekend.

First she was presenting at the Oscars Sunday night alongside Paul Rudd and now, she is #1 at the box office.

McCarthy’s latest film Identity Thief has returned to it’s number 1 spot nation wide, according to MTV.com.

Identity Thief marks McCarthy’s first leading role in a film and works besides Jason Bateman.

The film is the first big hit of 2013 with it grossing $34.5 million it’s first week in theaters. This weekend it gained another $14.1 million making it’s domestic gross $93.7 million, according to NBC.com.

The reviews for Bateman and McCarthy’s film haven’t been so great; it has gained a lot of criticism for being too outrageous and not making much sense. It’s been said that the film was filled with messy plot lines and characters that weren’t up to par.

Despite the bad reviews, the cast and crew of Identity Thief will be laughing all the way to the bank.
