M.I.A. says Grammys stole from her performances for its Bob Marley tribute

By Daniel S Levine,

Singer M.I.A. took to her blog Wednesday to accuse the Grammys of stealing from her stage show for its Bob Marley tribute on Sunday.

E! News notes that M.I.A. tweeted on Wednesday that she plans on “keeping a steal log” and wrote “MIA $500 : GRAMMYS $5000000.” While those tweets have since been deleted, she did retweet a fan who wrote, “Always ahead of the system :) They need to get more creative at faking creativity.”

According to The Hollywood Reporter, she also took to her M.I.A. Universe Tumblr blog to complain, writing, “IF U WANNA SEE THE REAL THING OR GET IT FIRST COME TO A M.I.A SHOW!”

She also posted a photo with an image of one of her shows last month next to the Grammys’ Marley tribute. “MIA vs The System,” she wrote on it and mentioned her “stealing log 2013.”

“My ideas came from my life. My set was based on Tamil Hindu temple. Not Bob Marley,” she had also tweeted.

M.I.A. has never shied away from being openly critical. Just last month, she criticized her own record label for not releasing her new album yet. She claimed that it didn't meet their expectations.
