A Miami teenager landed herself in jail for 30 days and is forced to pay a $10,000 after mouthing off to a judge.
18-year-old Penelope Soto made headlines when she appeared in court in front of Judge Jorge Rodriguez-Chomat on possession of Xanex charges.
When he let her off on $5,000 bail, she sarcastically told him “Adios,” which didn’t sit well with him, Fox Latino reports. When he asked her to come back, he told her that her bail was raised to $10,000. "Are you serious?" she asked, to which he replied, “I am serious.” He then told her "Adios.”
But that really made her mad, as she flipped him the middle finger as she attempted to leave again. But once again, he told her to come back and he informed her she had earned herself 30 days in jail.
“You said [expletive] me?" he asked her and she answered "Yes, sir, I did.”
The Miami Herald reports that on Wednesday, Soto will appear in front Judge Jeri Beth Cohen in Drug Dependency Court.
If she agrees to treatment and drug-testing, she might get her possession charge dismissed. But one thing is for sure, she will be spending the next month behind bars for her behavior.
