The family of the late country singer Mindy McCready have made their arrangements for her funeral. Her friends in the music industry have also announced plans for a memorial.
Extra reports that her family will hold a funeral service at the Crossroads Church in Fort Myers, Florida on Feb. 26. The service will be private. Her family has yet to make burial arrangements, though.
On March 6, her music industry friends will gather at the Cathedral of the Incarnation in Nashville for a public memorial.
McCready committed suicide over the weekend. Preliminary autopsy results confirmed that she died from a gunshot wound to the head. Her death came just two weeks after her longtime boyfriend, David Wilson, died. His death is still being investigated, but it was reportedly a suicide as well.
McCready, who was 37-years-old, has already been remembered fondly by friends in the press. Stan Moress, who worked with her early in her career, recently spoke with Billboard. “She stood in the doorway -- and charisma just exuded out of her. I called David [Malloy, producer] later and said, 'You have a star, my friend,’” he remembered.
“She had a natural ability to sing,” Mallory told Billboard. “We found a lot of great songs for her because there were not so many young blonde females out there when she was recording those first two albums.”
