Mindy McCready was found dead Sunday following a month of emotional struggles after the death of longtime partner David Wilson.
TMZ reports that McCready was found dead from a self-inflicted gunshot wound to the head. Police were sent to the troubled country star's home after neighbors phoned in saying there were sounds of two gunshots in her home. She shot her dog and then took her own life.
The Cleburne County Sherrif’s Office released a statement following the news of her passing which reads, “At 3:31 PM, Sunday, February 17th Deputies from the Cleburne County Sheriff’s Office were dispatched to a report of gun shots fired in the area of 1132 Fox Chase Drive in Heber Springs. Officers arrived on the scene at 3:58 PM and discovered the body of 37 year old Melinda Gayle McCready on the front porch of the residence at 1132 Fox Chase. Ms. McCready was pronounced dead at the scene from what appears to be a single self-inflicted gunshot wound. At this time family members have been notified of the incident. Ms. Mcready will be transported to the Arkansas State Crime Lab for an autopsy and the matter will be fully investigated."
According to reports, McCready attempted suicide two times before.
McCready could not recover from the tragic news of the death of longtime beau Wilson, who commited suicide last month. He is the father of her youngest child, Zayne.
Her family has not released a statement at this time.
