Mindy McCready's four possible suicide attempts

It becomes increasingly clear that Mindy McCready has not been happy for the past seven years.

In July 2005, McCready overdosed on drugs and alcohol, two months after she was hospitalized with injuries suffered at the hands of Billy McKnight, as reported by E! News.

Music writer Mikael Wood told E! News, recalling the incident, "She was found unconscious in a hotel lobby in Florida. She had been hospitalized for drugs and alcohol, an apparent suicide attempt."

McKnight and McCready had reconciled by then. He was there by her side.

On September 2005, McCready overdosed with antidepressants, while pregnant with her and McKnight's son, Zander.

"He turned out to be OK, but there was a third attempt in 2008," the music writer said.

"McCready was hospitalized in Nashville that December after paramedics were called to her home and found her with wounds on her wrists."

Wood continued, "then came a fourth attempt in 2010", Wood noted, referring to her hospitalization for an overdose in Cape Coral, Florida.

"At the time, authorities couldn't definitively say whether the incident was accidental or not. The fifth suicide attempt was the one that took her life."

Mindy McCready was pronounced dead of a self-inflicted gunshot on February 17, as reported by TMZ.

She shot herself and her dog, as her surrounding neighbors heard two gunshots.
