NBC’s struggle with ratings continues and the network is projected to drop from first to fifth place during February sweeps.
Deadline.com reported that NBC averaged a 1.2 rating among adults 18-49 in the period between Jan. 31 and Feb. 19., which is below Univision’s 1.5 average rating. NBC also falls behind ABC’s 1.7 rating, Fox’s 2.0, and CBS’s 4.9 rating.
Univision has reportedly topped the big networks before, including CBS in 2010 and 2012, but moving ahead of NBC is a first.
According to TV Guide, NBC premiered its show Do No Harm during sweeps but quickly canceled the series after it dropped from a 0.9 rating to 0.7.
Smash has also had its share of problems, dropping 71% from the series premiere and 39% from the season finale, Deadline reported. The most recent episode only managed a 0.9 rating.
The trouble with low ratings, however, was evidently not an issue for the network last year. NBC’s average rating was 3.7 and it won the 2012 February sweeps.
