Following the success of their exclusively online series House of Cards Netflix has announced they are teaming up with DreamWorks Animation to produce an original children’s series based off the upcoming DreamWorks movie Turbo.
Reuters reports the series, titled Turbo F.A.S.T., will premiere on Netflix in December. The program will star Ryan Reynolds and Paul Giamatti, and will continue from where the story left off in the movie.
The deal with DreamWorks also means Netflix will offer subscribers in the U.S. access to new DreamWorks titles as they are released on the website throughout 2013, according to The Next Web.
Having signed a multi-year deal with Walt Disney Pictures last year, Netflix now has relations with the two biggest names in animation. Content from Walt Disney Animation Studios, Pixar Animation Studios, Marvel Studios, and Disneynature will show up on the service from 2016.
Since Netflix has control of rights with Turbo F.A.S.T., it can therefore benefit further with revenue from licensing deals with other media companies.
