Pixar has just released a new promotional image for Monsters University, the anticipated prequel to the 2001 mega-hit Monsters, Inc. The film is set to hit theaters on July 21.
Entertainment Weekly posted the detailed new picture, which features old favorites such as Mike and Sully as well as a slew of new silly and fun faces. The image has countless cute references such as college jackets, monster professors, and three-eyed cheerleaders.
The movie focuses on Mike and Sully's college life, and introduces audiences to how the best friends actually met. Billy Crystal and John Goodman will reprise their roles for the voices of main monsters Mike and Sully.
According to Cinema Blend, the film boasts an impressive number of other A-list stars, including Ricky Gervais and Helen Mirren. Steve Buscemi is also back as the purple villain-monster Randall, though it seems that he was more of a nerd than a threat during his college years.
Crystal was excited to be back working as one-eyed monster Mike, mentioning, “He’s my favorite character I’ve ever played.”
The trailer for the upcoming film was released just a few weeks ago.
