Nicholas Hoult, Michael Shannon and Elle Fanning star in futuristic drama ‘Young Ones’

Michael Shannon (Man of Steel), Nicholas Hoult (Warm Bodies), Elle Fanning (We Bought a Zoo), along with Kodi Smit-McPhee (Let Me In) are joining the futuristic drama Young Ones.

Young Ones sets its story in the future when water has become very precious. A 14-year-old boy (McPhee) must protect his family and survive in the harsh environment, reported The Hollywood Reporter. The roles for Shannon, Hoult and Fanning are not known yet.

Written and directed by Jake Paltrow (The Good Night) and executive produced by Peter Garde, Marina Fuentes Arredonda, James Atherton, Jan Pace and Brian O’Shea, the film has already begun shooting in South Africa, reported Hitfix.

The producers are confident about the film. Empire reported that producer Michael Auret called the film an “engaging tale of hope and courage in a neo-realistic dystopia” that will have “universal appeal.”

O’Shea described the film as “exactly what the market place is looking for,” while Fuentes said, “This film is actual and thrilling.”
