Nick Carter engaged to longtime girlfriend

Backstreet Boys singer Nick Carter is officially off the market as the boy-bander proposed to his girlfriend of four years, Lauren Kitt, on Wednesday.

According to Us Weekly, Carter proposed on a secluded island on the Florida Keys where he got down on one knee and proposed with a seven-carat diamond ring.

Carter explained to People, “I had the ring in my pocket for two weeks. I was like, 'I don't want it anymore!' It was driving me insane. I just wanted to get it out of my hands and on to hers."

As for the proposal, the 33-year-old heartthrob wasn’t certain that his now fiancée would respond with a yes. He explains, "She said, 'Yes,' and I'm, like, 'I don't know what to do…She said, 'You're supposed to put it on my finger.' So I did. I was in shock."

As for the upcoming wedding, Kitt explains that she couldn’t come up with a date right off the bat as she must first confer with the band, who is slated to go on a reunion tour.

“It's not up to us. It's up to the schedule. We're just excited and looking forward to the next chapter of our lives,” she explained.

Carter alluded to the proposal on Instagram where he shared a picture of himself with his fiancée, writing, “Big question…great answer.”
