NYC Deli apologizes to Forest Whitaker for public frisking

By Sarah Burbank-Douglas,

Just days after the Academy Award winning actor Forest Whitaker was falsely accused of stealing from Milano Market, the deli manager has reached out to apologize.

According to TMZ, a rep for the manager has reached out following the news of the false accusations stating that the incident did not take place as a form of racial profiling.

“The management of Milano Market deeply regrets the wrongful actions of our employee in stopping and frisking Forest Whitaker,” the rep states. "While we can not delve into the employee's mindset, we do not believe that he was racially motivated in his actions, simply misguided."

Additionally, the rep notes that they would like to reach out the Whitaker personally and make a donation on behalf of the company to the charity of his choice.

As we previously reported, Whitaker was pulled aside and frisked in public after an employee insisted that he slipped something into his pocket.

A rep for Whitaker noted that the actor was outraged.
