One Direction uses its fame to fight poverty in Africa

The boys have been very busy! One Direction flew to Ghana in support of the UK’s Red Nose Day/Comic Relief efforts and yet they still had time to make a music video for their new song, a cover of Blondie’s “One Way or Another.”

Red Nose Day is a huge event held every other year hosted by UK charity Comic Relief. The event brings together the best entertainment for a telethon in order to raise money for poverty in Africa. Since 1988, the event has raised over £600 million and now the boys of 1D have joined the cause!

According to The Mirror , the band was taken to a children’s hospital during their two-day trip. The field trip made quite an impression on them and Harry Styles even said, “My mum worries about me all the time so I can’t imagine how terrible it must be for these mothers to see their babies so poorly.”

Liam also seemed quite shaken up and told The Sun , “It must be so difficult seeing your baby so ill. At home we take vaccinations for granted. But not all children here have access to them and that can mean the difference between life and death.”

Now, One Direction’s song “One Way or Another” has been named the official Red Nose charity song, according to the band’s website .
