Oscar Pistorius, the South African runner who has no legs, has been arrested for murdering his girlfriend.

Pistorius, the runner also known as Blade Runner, is accused of shooting his 30-year-old girlfriend Reeva Steenkamp in the head and hand with a 9mm gun found in Pistorius' house in Pretoria, South Africa, TMZ reported.

The Guardian reports Steenkamp has been shot four times.

The athlete had been dating Steenkamp for a few months, she was a law graduate and an aspiring model.

They reportedly fought before the incident happened.

There was a previous report saying that the Olympian might have fired the shots, because he had mistakenly thought Steenkamp was an intruder, but was later dismissed by the police.

Former editor of South African FHM, where Steenkamp was once featured in, Hagen Engler, quoted Steenkamp as a determined and committed person to work with.

Engler, who had known the aspiring model for quite some times, said that her death was a huge shock for him.

"It's a hammer-blow. I've been trying to process it. It's a real tragedy that such a bright girl has gone."
