Bonnaroo 2013 promises to have everything for music fans, with an eclectic lineup that includes Tom Petty, Paul McCartney, Mumford & Sons, R. Kelly, Wu-Tang Clan, Wilo and many others.
Organizers made the announcement with a live stream on the festival’s YouTube channel. Weird Al Yankovic hosted the event, titled “Bonnaroo Live Lineup Announcement Megathon” (BLAM). Organizers later streamed an entire Bonnaroo concert from the past.
According to Billboard, Bonnaroo will be McCartney’s first U.S. festival appearance since Coachella in 2009. His last release was Kisses on the Bottom and he famously performed with members of Nirvana at the Hurricane Sandy benefit and on Saturday Night Live.
Tom Petty & The Heartbreakers last performed at the festival in 2006. They are also slated to perform at the 2013 Firefly Music Festival in Delaware the following weekend.
Mumford & Sons performed at Bonnaroo in 2011 and just won Album of the Year for Babel.
Other big names include Yankovic, Edward Sharpe and the Magnetic Zeroes, A$AP Rocky, Passion Pit, The xx, ZZ Top, Pretty Lights, David Byrne and St. Vincent and Billy Idol. The annual "Superjam” has My Morning Jacket's Jim James with John Oates, Zigaboo Modeliste and Preservation Hall Jazz Band performing with other special guests.
Bonnaroo is held in Manchester, Tennessee from June 13-16. Tickets will go on sale this Saturday.
